Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has revised the Four Commodity Safety Laws, which will take effect on December 25, 2025. For products covered under these regulations, sellers must appoint a Domestic Administrator in Japan (Japanese Representative) and complete product classification for METI filing, as well as conduct ongoing compliance management related to PSE and PSC requirements, to ensure that products meet Japanese legal standards.
If you fail to comply with the legal requirements of the Four Commodity Safety Laws, regulated products will not meet the new regulations and will not be allowed to continue selling in Japan.
Overseas sellers must complete METI filing and appoint a Domestic Administrator within Japan.
